Field Marshal Syed Asim Munir said Pakistan would respond swiftly to any aggression against its sovereignty. Speaking at a luncheon hosted for Jordan’s King Abdullah II at the President’s House, he said victory comes only from Allah and Pakistan’s armed forces fight with faith. He recalled that during the May confrontation, Pakistan downed several Indian jets after unprovoked strikes, leading to civilian and security losses.
India blamed Pakistan for the earlier Pahalgam attack without evidence, a claim Pakistan rejected. Pakistan carried out a large retaliatory operation targeting Indian military sites, and the conflict ended on May 10 after a US-brokered ceasefire. Soon after, the federal government promoted General Munir to field marshal for his leadership.

Munir reaffirmed Pakistan’s commitment to peace but warned that any future aggression would be met with a firm response. He said faith gives believers strength against any enemy, and asked participants to pray for Pakistan’s progress. His remarks came days after confirmation that his tenure would restart under his new role as Chief of Defence Forces. Follow Republic Policy on X
