Pakistan’s accomplished female mountaineer, Naila Kiani, achieved a remarkable milestone on Monday, becoming the first Pakistani woman to conquer Cho Oyu, the world’s sixth-highest peak standing at 8,188 meters.

Naila, part of the Imagine Nepal team, which also included Sirbaz Khan, reached the summit of Cho Oyu at 12:30 pm Nepal Time. This accomplishment marked her tenth ascent of a peak exceeding 8,000 meters, a feat unmatched by any other Pakistani woman.

In an exclusive satellite phone conversation, Naila confirmed her successful summit of Cho Oyu. Notably, she and Sirbaz Khan reached the summit together, making them the first Pakistanis to achieve this feat on Cho Oyu.

Naila Kiani’s mountaineering journey began with her ascent of Gasherbrum II in 2021, followed by conquering K2 and Gasherbrum I in 2022. Since April of the current year, she has triumphed over Annapurna, Mt. Everest, Lhotse, Nanga Parbat, Broad Peak, Manaslu, and now Cho Oyu, solidifying her status as the first Pakistani to scale seven peaks in just six months.
