Newly unveiled research by the US Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) brings to light a startling revelation: a staggering 15% of children in the United States sought treatment for mental health disorders in 2021.

The CDC’s National Center for Health Statistics has unveiled these findings, shedding light on the prevalence of mental health conditions like attention-deficit/hyperactivity disorder (ADHD) and anxiety among school-age children.

Through a comprehensive analysis of data from the 2021 National Health Interview Survey, statisticians delved into the percentage of children who had received mental health treatment within the past year. The report highlights that the majority of treatments were administered to adolescents aged 12 to 17. Moreover, it reveals that boys surpassed girls in terms of being prescribed medications to manage their mental health.
