Russia unleashed a wave of overnight missile and drone attacks across Ukraine, killing at least three people and hitting major energy infrastructure in several regions. According to Ukrainian officials, over 450 drones and 45 missiles were launched, targeting residential and energy facilities.
In Dnipro, a drone struck an apartment block, killing two and injuring 12, while another civilian was reported dead in the Kharkiv region. Energy sites in Kyiv, Poltava, and Kharkiv sustained heavy damage, with Ukrainian Prime Minister Yulia Svyrydenko confirming that restoration of electricity, water, and heating was underway.
President Volodymyr Zelensky condemned the attacks and called for stronger international sanctions against Russian energy exports, saying every strike on civilians must trigger a decisive economic response.
Meanwhile, Russia’s Defence Ministry claimed responsibility, describing the assault as a “massive strike with high-precision long-range weapons” in retaliation for Ukrainian operations on Russian soil. Ukraine’s air force reported shooting down 406 drones and nine missiles but acknowledged that dozens still hit key targets.
On the eastern front, Moscow announced the capture of the small village of Vovche and continued offensives around Pokrovsk and Kupiansk, intensifying its campaign before winter sets in.
