Pakistan Saudi Defence Cooperation Strengthened

Saudi Arabia’s Chief of General Staff General Fayyad bin Hamed Al-Ruwaili met Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif on Monday to discuss ways to further strengthen defence and security cooperation between the two countries. The meeting focused on expanding military collaboration, joint training, and expertise exchange.

During the discussion, Prime Minister Sharif conveyed warm wishes for the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques King Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud and Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman. He reaffirmed Pakistan’s commitment to deepening its historic ties with Saudi Arabia across defence, security, and economic domains.

The prime minister acknowledged Saudi Arabia’s unwavering support and highlighted the shared faith, values, and mutual trust underpinning bilateral relations. Recalling recent visits to Riyadh, he emphasised the signing of the Strategic Mutual Defence Agreement and Pakistan’s determination to combat terrorism and promote regional peace and stability.

General Al-Ruwaili conveyed greetings from the Saudi leadership and reiterated Riyadh’s desire to further elevate strategic partnership with Pakistan. The meetings, attended by senior officials including COAS Field Marshal Syed Asim Munir, Defence Minister Khawaja Muhammad Asif, and Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar, focused on military collaboration, counter-terrorism, and ongoing defence training initiatives.
