The Pakistan Cricket Board on Wednesday announced a strong and encouraging response to its tender for the sale of two new Pakistan Super League franchises. A total of 12 parties submitted formal bids before the deadline, highlighting growing investor confidence in the league.
According to the PCB, the bidders come from five different continents, including the United States, Australia, Canada, the United Arab Emirates and Pakistan. This wide geographic spread reflects the PSL’s rising global profile and increasing commercial value in the international cricket market.
The board said the outcome of this initial bidding phase will be made public on December 27. Only those bidders who meet the technical requirements will move forward to the next round of the process.
In the second stage, qualified parties will take part in an open competition bidding process to purchase the two new franchises. This round is scheduled to take place on January 8 at the Islamabad Convention Centre.
The PCB reaffirmed its commitment to conducting the entire process in a transparent and competitive manner, in line with international best practices. The expansion is aimed at further strengthening the PSL, which is set to hold its 11th edition from March 26 to May 3 next year, and ensuring the league’s continued growth and long-term sustainability.
