Trump Says Global Force, $5bn Pledged for Gaza as Board of Peace Meets Feb 19

[post-views]

United States President Donald Trump** announced on Sunday that member countries of the Board of Peace have pledged more than $5 billion for humanitarian relief and reconstruction in Gaza and committed thousands of personnel for a proposed International Stabilisation Force. The force is expected to deploy in the Gaza Strip to help maintain security alongside local police.

In a post on Truth Social, Trump said the announcement would be made formally when the Board meets in Washington on February 19 at the Donald J Trump Institute of Peace, which serves as the body’s headquarters. He described the Board of Peace as potentially “the most consequential international body in history,” adding that he was honoured to chair it.

Trump also urged Hamas to honour what he called its commitment to “full and immediate demilitarisation.”

Meanwhile, Pakistan’s Foreign Office confirmed that Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif will attend the meeting, accompanied by Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar. Further details about Pakistan’s delegation are expected later.

The Board, proposed in September 2025 and formally established last month, was authorised by the United Nations Security Council to help oversee post-ceasefire stabilisation in Gaza, though the truce has faced repeated violations.
