Pakistan’s Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar held a phone call with Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi to discuss the ongoing regional situation, including the Iran conflict, ceasefire efforts, and Pakistan’s diplomatic role. Dar stressed the need for continued dialogue to resolve tensions and promote stability, while Araghchi appreciated Pakistan’s constructive engagement.
Meanwhile, U.S. President Donald Trump stated that the United States would not use nuclear weapons in its conflict with Iran, emphasizing that conventional military strength had already weakened Tehran significantly. He said he is in no hurry to finalize a peace deal, preferring a long-lasting agreement over a quick one.
In the Gulf, tensions remain high as Iran adopts new tactics in the Strait of Hormuz. Despite damage to its navy, Iran has used fast attack boats to seize commercial ships, highlighting its ability to disrupt global shipping. These small, agile vessels form part of a broader asymmetric strategy involving drones, missiles, and electronic interference.
At the same time, Iran has offered transit fee exemptions to “friendly” countries like Russia. While ceasefires, including one between Israel and Lebanon, offer temporary relief, the region continues to face uncertainty and economic risks.
