The Head Honcho of the Army, General Asim Munir, declared on Tuesday that the tragic suicide bombing at a mosque in Peshawar – which claimed over a hundred lives – wouldn’t deter the country’s unwavering stance against terrorism.
The General made this statement while chairing the 255th Corps Commanders’ Meeting at the Main Headquarters, a day after the devastating attack in the heavily guarded Police Lines area of Peshawar.
The bloodshed was the most vicious to hit the troubled city near the Afghan frontier and comes in the midst of a rise in violence against law enforcement. The Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan (TTP) has taken responsibility for the bombing.
“Such iniquitous and spineless actions can’t rattle the nation’s resolve, but instead invigorate our resolve to win the ongoing war against terror with zero tolerance for any terror outfit,” the General stated.
During the meeting, the army chief was given an in-depth briefing on the current intelligence-based operations being carried out by the army and law enforcement to disrupt the connection between terrorists and their support systems throughout the country.
The top brass of the army also honored the fallen heroes of the Peshawar Police Lines bombing and vowed to bring the culprits to “justice that serves as a warning to others.”
