Arooj shimmers at Grammy awards

Arooj Aftab was a contender for the Best Global Music Performance accolade, nominated for the electrifying song, “Udhero Na”, alongside musical virtuoso Anoushka Shankar. Sadly, the award was eventually won by Wouter Kellerman, Zakes Bantwini & Nomcebo Zikode. Undeterred, Aftab joined forces with Shankar to put on a scintillating performance in front of the A-list crowd.

In an awe-inspiring feat, the singer made history last year by becoming the first Pakistani to win a Grammy. Aftab’s nomination in November was a major milestone and an exciting moment for her. Upon hearing the news, she exclaimed, “Wow! ‘Udhero Na’ has been nominated for a Grammy. Cheers to me, Anoushka Shankar, Maeve Gilchrist, and Nadje Noordhuis!”

While Aftab may not have won this time, she can still hold her head up high. Meanwhile, Queen Bey, Beyoncé, set a new record by snagging her 32nd Grammy win, surpassing the legendary Georg Solti.
