Lahore: Punjab’s Interim Chief Minister, Mohsin Naqvi, turned down the proposal to spend Rs80 crore on installing lights in Lahore for the eighth edition of the Pakistan Super League (PSL) 2023.
This decision is noteworthy as eight PSL matches are slated to take place in Lahore. During a meeting, led by the Interim Chief Minister Mohsin Naqvi, the district administration proposed installing large lights along the expected routes of PSL teams in the city.
Sources suggest that during the last PSL season in 2022, the Punjab government allocated Rs60 crores for the same purpose. However, this time around, Mohsin Naqvi categorically rejected the idea of spending Rs80 crores on installing lights in the provincial capital.
The meeting, held on Monday, was to review the preparations for the PSL and the security arrangements for the teams. Senior officials, including the Inspector General of Police, the Commissioner, and others, participated in the session.
