So much has been written about the rights of women across the globe. Nothing gross about it; however, the fundamental purpose is to execute and implement the rights of women across the world. Women’s economic rights are critical to the cause of women’s empowerment. Economic rights include inheritance, farming, business, entrepreneurship and better-paid jobs. 8th March is celebrated as an international day for women across the world. Women are humans. Men and women may be different but equal before the law. Then, the term equitability is far more suitable than equality as both genders are born for various purposes; therefore, both of them can not be identical in purposes and executions. Internation women’s day is a political concept aiming at empowering women in all spheres of individual and collective life’s social, cultural, political, economic and administrative aspects. The theme of the 2023 international day for women is the digital gender mainstreaming of women.
Our lives depend on solid technological integration:
- Attending a course
- Calling loved ones
- Making a bank transaction
- Booking a medical appointment
Everything currently goes through a digital process.
However, 37% of women do not use the Internet. Two hundred fifty-nine million fewer women have access to the Internet than men, even though they account for nearly half the world’s population.
Suppose women cannot access the Internet and do not feel safe online. In that case, they need to develop the necessary digital skills to engage in digital spaces, diminishing their opportunities to pursue careers in science, technology, engineering, and mathematics (STEM) related fields. By 2050, 75% of jobs will be connected to STEM areas. Yet today, women hold just 22% of positions in artificial intelligence, to name just one.
Bringing women into technology results in more creative solutions and has more significant potential for innovations that meet women’s needs and promote gender equality. Their lack of inclusion, by contrast, comes with massive costs.
The United Nations Observance of IWD, under the theme “DigitALL: Innovation and technology for gender equality”, recognizes and celebrates the women and girls championing the advancement of transformative technology and digital education. The observance will explore the impact of the digital gender gap on widening economic and social inequalities. It will also spotlight the importance of protecting the rights of women and girls in digital spaces and addressing online and ICT-facilitated gender-based violence.
It is also critical that women in Pakistan are empowered. ICT skills are more related to women. With ICT skills, one can work from home and contribute to individual and national life. Furthermore, Pakistan has tremendous potential in the field of ICT. With more focus on the sector, both men and women can be trained, and the trained human resource can take benefit from the international market. Women’s participation in the field of ICT is critical for their economic empowerment. Therefore, the public and private sectors must work jointly and provide skill-learning institutions to women so that their ICT skills may be enhanced to the level of economic empowerment.https://republicpolicy.com/?s=women+rights
