Pakistan Contemplates New Face for US Ambassadorial Position

ISLAMABAD: Khalil Hashmi, Pakistan’s representative in Geneva, has emerged as a formidable contender to assume the position of the country’s ambassador in Washington, The Republic Policy News reported on Tuesday.

As per the publication, the ruling coalition is considering the appointment of a new envoy to the United States, as Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif has requested a list of potential candidates to replace Khan.

After concluding consultations on recalling Ambassador Khan, the government has asked the Ministry of Foreign Affairs to provide a summary of the proposed individuals, sources revealed.

A decision on this matter is expected to be made after the return of Foreign Minister Bilawal Bhutto Zardari, who is currently on a visit to Japan.
