Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Governor Haji Ghulam Ali officially endorsed the appointment of Justice (retd) Arshad Hussain Shah as the new interim chief minister of the province on Sunday.
This decision follows the untimely passing of Muhammad Azam Khan, the former caretaker chief minister, who suffered a fatal heart attack a day earlier.
Muhammad Azam Khan assumed the role of caretaker chief minister in January this year following the dissolution of the provincial assembly by the government led by the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI).
After his unfortunate demise, a consultative meeting was convened by former KP CM Mahmood Khan and opposition leader Akram Khan Durrani to deliberate on the selection of the new provincial chief executive. The leaders concluded on Justice Arshad Hussain Shah’s candidacy and submitted the recommendation to the governor for formal approval.
