Caretaker Prime Minister Anwar-ul-Haq Kakar says that the government is taking all possible steps to provide medicines to the common man at a reasonable price.
While presiding over the federal cabinet meeting in Islamabad today, he said that the government is framing such policies which will not only benefit the common man but also the pharmaceutical industry.
The Prime Minister directed to prepare recommendations to further improve the performance of the Drug Regulatory Authority of Pakistan.
He further directed that actions against drug hoarding and trafficking should be accelerated. In order to deregulate the prices of medicines, the prime minister said that proposals should be sent to the next elected parliament to prepare a draft summary for the legislation.
On the recommendation of the Ministry of National Health, the Federal Cabinet approved the increase in the prices of 146 essential life-saving medicines keeping in mind the rising prices of raw materials in the global market.
The Ministry of National Health and Drug Regulatory Authority of Pakistan told the meeting that through the online portal of DRAP, citizens can file complaints about non-availability of medicines in the market.

On the recommendation of the Ministry of Finance, the Federal Cabinet approved the signing of the Memorandum of Understanding between the Competition Commission of Pakistan and the State Administration of Market Regulation of China.
The forum allowed Pakistani psychologist Muhammad Salim Khan Tareen to receive the Member of the British Empire Award for services to the field of psychology from King Charles III of Great Britain.
The Federal Cabinet also allowed Air Chief Marshal Zaheer Ahmed Babar Sidhu to receive the Gold Medal for Aeronautical Merit from Italy.
The Government of Italy conferred this honor in recognition of Air Chief Marshal Zaheer Ahmed Babar Sidhu’s services in enhancing cooperation between the Italian and Pakistani Air Forces.
