WhatsApp, owned by Meta, made an exciting announcement on Thursday, unveiling the debut version of its brand new Updates tab.
As per WaBetaInfo, the popular instant messaging app is gradually introducing the update to fortunate beta testers through the TestFlight beta Program.
The Updates tab serves as the central hub for both status updates and channels on WhatsApp. The previously known status tab has undergone a revamp and is now referred to as “Updates.”
While the channels feature is currently still in development and not yet integrated into the Updates tab, this initial release marks the first version of this exciting new addition, as stated by WaBetaInfo.
This update introduces several notable changes, including a distinct section for muted status updates. Furthermore, it offers a convenient shortcut to privacy settings, now conveniently located within the same menu.
Another shortcut feature facilitates the creation of status updates. By simply tapping the plus icon at the top of the screen, users can access the menu where the option to create status updates is readily available.
Initially, users will have the opportunity to familiarize themselves with the updated tab, as channels will eventually become an integral part of this section in the future. Additionally, the display of status updates will undergo changes, adopting a horizontal row format instead of the previous vertical list.
WhatsApp plans to gradually roll out this feature to a wider user base in the upcoming weeks, allowing more individuals to experience the enhanced functionality of the Updates tab.
