KP Chief Minister Sohail Afridi on Wednesday criticised the federal government for withholding constitutionally mandated funds, including NFC transfers and net hydel profit, straining provincial finances.
He highlighted incomplete fiscal integration post-FATA merger, inequitable resource distribution since 2018, and KP’s independent spending of Rs15 billion on terrorism victims and flood relief without federal aid. Afridi urged the Centre to provide relief, noting 45% of KP’s population lives below the poverty line.
The CM also raised concerns over political victimisation of PTI leaders, restrictions on Imran Khan, and denial of access to family members, including Bushra Bibi. He announced plans for a peaceful public gathering on April 9, 2026, in Rawalpindi, urging constitutional adherence and protection of citizens’ rights.
Afridi reaffirmed PTI’s commitment to Imran Khan’s vision, democratic values, and nationwide mobilisation to safeguard the Constitution.
