Islamabad: On the President’s refusal to convene the opening session of the National Assembly, the Speaker convened the session of the National Assembly on February 29, Thursday.

According to the details, Speaker National Assembly Raja Pervez Ashraf called a meeting of the National Assembly at 10 am on Thursday under Clause 2 of Article 91 of the Constitution.

Newly elected MNAs will take oath during this session.

Sources say that the Speaker took this decision after consulting with constitutional experts and senior staff of the National Assembly Secretariat. gave

Sources also said that the President has taken the stand that the lower house of Parliament will remain incomplete until all parties are allocated seats.

According to Article 91 of the Constitution, if the President does not sign the summary of convening the meeting, the Speaker is bound to convene the meeting on the 21st after the elections.

According to this, the Speaker can convene the meeting on February 29 after the general elections on February 8.
