ARCHAX: Japan’s Massive $3 Million Robot Takes Center Stage

[post-views]

Tokyo-based startup Tsubame Industries has revealed its latest creation, a colossal four-wheeled robot standing at an impressive 4.5 meters (14.8 feet) in height. Reminiscent of the iconic “Mobile Suit Gundam” from Japan’s beloved animated series, this giant robot, named ARCHAX after the prehistoric avian dinosaur archaeopteryx, can be yours for the hefty price tag of $3 million.

ARCHAX boasts an array of cockpit monitors that receive real-time images from external cameras, allowing its pilot to deftly control its arms and hands using joysticks located within the robot’s torso.

This 3.5-ton mechanical marvel will make its official debut at the upcoming Japan Mobility Show later this month. It flaunts two distinctive modes: the towering ‘robot mode’ and a more mobile ‘vehicle mode,’ capable of cruising at speeds of up to 10 kilometers (6 miles) per hour.

Ryo Yoshida, the 25-year-old CEO of Tsubame Industries, expressed his motivation behind this ambitious project: “Japan is very good at animation, games, robots, and automobiles, so I thought it would be great if I could create a product that compressed all these elements into one.”
