Planning Minister Ahsan Iqbal said that the new Army Chief appointment will be promulgated before 29th November.
He has said that on the return of Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif to Pakistan he will declare a new Chief of Army Staff in a day or two.
He further added that Prime Minister Criteria for the appointment of army chief is only one: taking the military to higher standard and bolstering the defence of Pakistan. Ahsan Iqbal stated that issue is a “routine appointment” and requested to evade the conjecture in this substance, he further added that the appointment will be done on professional expertise rather on a political base.
Ahsan Iqbal on a famous Pakistani channel news show criticized Imran khan for playing politics for the appointment of Army Chief. He urged that the “appointment of army chief will be made on pure merit and professional basis”.
