[post-views]

ISLAMABAD — PTI leader Asad Qaiser on Monday called on the Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) to bring a no-confidence motion against the PML-N-led federal government, assuring Bilawal Bhutto-Zardari of his party’s full support. His remarks came as tensions between the two coalition partners, PPP and PML-N, escalated following the former’s walkout from the National Assembly.

“If the PPP leadership is serious, they should bring a no-confidence motion, and we will support it,” Qaiser declared on the assembly floor. “We will help them topple this government.” The sharp exchange followed growing discord between the allies over flood relief, water disputes, and provincial governance in Sindh and Punjab.

PPP leader Raja Pervaiz Ashraf expressed disappointment over derogatory remarks made by a Punjab minister, calling them divisive and harmful to national unity. “Such statements hurt every PPP worker and weaken the federation,” he said, announcing that his party would boycott NA proceedings until the matter is clarified.

Meanwhile, President Asif Ali Zardari intervened to defuse tensions, summoning Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi to Karachi for urgent consultations. PPP’s Senator Sherry Rehman also criticized Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz for mocking Sindh’s aid requests, calling it “insensitive when flood victims still await help.”

Punjab Information Minister Azma Bukhari, however, doubled down on her criticism, challenging the PPP to “name 17 projects in their 17-year rule in Sindh.” The widening rift has left the fragile coalition strained, with political observers warning of a possible collapse in federal unity.
