Australia Strips its Buildings of Chinese-made Security Cameras for Increased Security.

Australia’s defense department is taking a page from the US and UK’s book by removing Chinese-made security cameras from its facilities. The move is aimed at ensuring complete security, as there are fears that the Chinese companies supplying these cameras might share intelligence gathered from them with Beijing’s security services.

According to official figures, over 250 government buildings in Australia, including the departments of defense, foreign affairs, finance, and the attorney-general’s department, are fitted with 913 Chinese-made cameras.

Defence Minister Richard Marles has declared that all Chinese-made security cameras within government buildings will be located and removed.
