Babar Azam’s role extends beyond playing cricket for the Colombo Strikers in the ongoing Lanka Premier League (LPL).
According to Simon Helmot, the head coach of Strikers, Babar’s influence encompasses emotional, mental, and technical aspects of the game.
“He [Babar] looks after people emotionally, mentally or technically. He is a great asset to have as a support mechanism on the side,” Helmot told Wisden India.
Strikers’ captain Niroshan Dickwella also acknowledges the pivotal role that Babar Azam plays in his captaincy journey. Babar’s constant guidance and assistance throughout their partnership in the middle have been invaluable. Their collaboration extends to decision-making, where Babar’s input contributes significantly to their strategic choices on the field.
