The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has assured its commitment to following all uniform-related regulations, amidst reports that the International Cricket Council (ICC) issued a warning regarding the refusal to include the word “Pakistan” on team jerseys as part of the Champions Trophy logo.
The Champions Trophy is scheduled to take place in Pakistan from February 19 to March 9, 2025.
“BCCI will adhere to every ICC rule regarding team uniforms during the Champions Trophy,” said Devajit Saikia, BCCI Secretary, in a statement to the Press Trust of India (PTI).

Earlier today, Pakistan’s state broadcaster, PTV, cited NDTV, an Indian news outlet, reporting that the ICC had delivered a clear message to the Indian cricket board concerning their reluctance to feature “Pakistan” on their kits.
“It is mandatory for all teams to display the tournament logo, which includes the host nation’s name, on their jerseys,” NDTV quoted an ICC official as stating.
PTV also reported that the ICC dismissed India’s argument about not wanting to include “Pakistan” on its kits due to political sensitivities. The ICC clarified that it is a standard requirement for all teams to comply with this rule, and India is no exception.
India and Pakistan have not played bilateral cricket since the 2012-13 series when Pakistan toured India for a white-ball series under Misbahul Haq’s leadership. While India hasn’t toured Pakistan since the 2008 Asia Cup, Pakistani teams have participated in ICC events hosted in India.

To address India’s concerns regarding political tensions, the ICC recently approved a two-way hybrid hosting model for the eight-nation Champions Trophy. Under this model, all matches involving India will be played in Dubai, while matches involving Pakistan will follow the same approach if India hosts future ICC events.
There is also speculation about whether India’s team or captain Rohit Sharma will attend the Champions Trophy opening ceremony in Pakistan.
