The election campaign is gaining momentum ahead of the 2024 general elections to be held on February 8. Political parties are holding public meetings to gain the support of voters.
Muslim League (N) is holding a public meeting in Rawalpindi today, which will be addressed by Shahbaz Sharif. People’s Party Chairman Bilawal Bhutto Zardari will address a rally in Peshawar today.
Additionally, candidates are participating in corner meetings to connect with voters.
A total of 5121 candidates are in the fray for the National Assembly seats. Among them are 4807 men, 312 women and two transgenders.
There are 12,695 candidates for the four provincial assemblies, including 12,123 men, 570 women and two transgenders.

Elections will be held on 266 general seats of the National Assembly and 593 general seats of the four provincial assemblies.
Meanwhile, in Punjab, monitoring teams have been mobilized to ensure implementation of the code of conduct in the province. The District Monitoring Officer of Gujarat has imposed fines on various candidates for violating the election code of conduct.
PP 31 Qaisara Elahi from Gujarat was fined Rs 10,000 for violation. Similarly, Hafiz Muhammad Tahir, a candidate from PP 32 Gujarat, was fined Rs 5,000 and Samira Elahi was fined Rs 10,000.
