On Tuesday, Belarusian President Aleksandr Lukashenko expressed interest in purchasing textile products from Pakistan during a meeting with Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif. Lukashenko, who arrived in Pakistan on Monday for a three-day visit, is focused on strengthening trade and economic ties between the two countries. He is accompanied by a high-level delegation of government officials and business leaders.
The two nations signed eight memorandums of understanding (MoUs) on Monday, covering various sectors. At a joint press conference on Tuesday, PM Shehbaz Sharif outlined plans to continue discussions on future cooperation. The two sides are expected to meet again in two weeks to finalize agreements, with a target to formalize these steps in February.
Lukashenko emphasized the strong, friendly relationship between the two countries, highlighting cooperation in agriculture, defense, information technology, and heavy machinery. He also noted that Belarus is keen to share its technologies with Pakistan.
Both leaders expressed satisfaction with the current state of bilateral relations and agreed to maintain momentum through regular high-level exchanges and collaborations. PM Shehbaz also accepted Lukashenko’s invitation to visit Belarus.
