Bilawal Bhutto Zardari, the chairman of the Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP), emphasized the importance of implementing reforms in the justice system during his address to the Sindh High Court Bar Association in Karachi. He stressed the need for establishing a constitutional court to prevent any future unlawful execution of an elected prime minister. Bilawal also highlighted the PPP’s rejection of any legislation that aims to benefit or harm individuals and emphasized the necessity of fairness in the legal system. Furthermore, he proposed that the constitutional court should ensure fair representation for all provinces, with a rotation system in place for nominating the chief judge from each province in turn.

Bilawal’s remarks come in the wake of the ruling coalition’s failure to present a proposed constitutional amendment in Parliament due to insufficient votes. National Assembly Speaker Ayaz Sadiq also confirmed that the initiative to establish a constitutional court had been endorsed by all political leaders, including Maulana Fazlur Rehman, under the Charter of Democracy.
