JERUSALEM: A series of explosions were heard in Jerusalem on Friday after air raid sirens sounded across several parts of Israel and the occupied West Bank, according to journalists from AFP who were in the city.
Witnesses reported hearing around a dozen blasts shortly after warning sirens alerted residents to possible incoming missiles believed to have been fired from Iran. The alerts triggered panic in several areas as people rushed to shelters following the warning signals.
Emergency services were quickly dispatched to assess the situation, but initial reports indicated that no injuries had been recorded immediately after the explosions. Authorities continued to monitor the situation while urging residents to remain cautious and follow safety instructions.
The blasts come amid rising tensions in the region and heightened military alert following recent exchanges between Iran and Israel. Israeli defense systems are believed to have been activated in response to the missile warnings, though officials have yet to release detailed information about the incident.
