The evolution of democratic ideals, the rule of law, and the people’s will to elect governments has been a significant development in Pakistan. It’s the power of the people’s vote that has shaped the political landscape. At present, the majority of Pakistanis believe in the necessity of a functional republic that upholds the principles of rule of law and human rights.

Throughout the years, numerous political parties and leaders have contributed to this development. Therefore, the concept of a democratic Pakistan does not solely rely on a particular leader.

It’s the people who shape the political landscape. A striking example of this is the ‘vote to izzat do’ movement led by Nawaz Sharif. It resonated with the general will of the people, gaining widespread support. However, when he discontinued the movement, his popularity took a hit. On the other hand, Imran Khan, previously less popular, gained momentum by advocating ‘Haqeeqi Azaadi.’ This shift in popularity illustrates that the ideals of democracy, the rule of law, human rights, and justice are more crucial than individual leaders and political parties.

Pakistan stands at a crossroads. The Pakistani nation has expressed its preference for a democratic and just Pakistan, founded on principles of democracy, federalism, and the rule of law. Any leader or political party, including Imran Khan & PTI, would risk losing popularity if they stray from this idea. Therefore, it is not just important, but imperative for all political parties to align their actions with the public sentiment. The weight of their decisions cannot be overstated.

Imran Khan is seen as a symbol of public sentiment in Pakistan. Even if he were to stray from the principles of democracy, the rule of law, and human rights, the people would not hesitate to withdraw their support. The Pakistani nation values democracy and justice above individual leaders or political parties. As a result, any leader or political party, including Imran Khan and PTI, would only retain popularity if they stick to these fundamental ideals. This underlines the importance of all political parties aligning their actions with the prevailing public sentiment, as the repercussions of their decisions carry significant weight.
