Caretaker Prime Minister Anwaar-ul-Haq Kakar embarked on a journey to Saudi Arabia on Friday to represent Pakistan at the urgent gathering of the Organisation of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) focused on the unfolding events in Gaza.
In the course of his official three-day visit, the prime minister will take part in the special session hosted in Riyadh, dedicated to addressing the Israeli incursion into Gaza. Additionally, he plans to engage in sideline discussions with leaders from other nations attending the summit.
Saudi Arabia has called for this extraordinary OIC meeting to deliberate on the intensifying situation in Gaza.
Previously, while delivering remarks at the 16th ECO Summit in Tashkent, Uzbekistan, PM Kakar emphasized the potential for a well-connected region to yield substantial economic and peace dividends. He commended the ECO’s corridor-based strategy as a positive step, asserting that these projects will create a conducive environment for the private sector to expand business and investment opportunities.
Highlighting the significance of operationalizing the Istanbul-Tehran-Islamabad corridor, he noted Pakistan’s efforts to enhance its rail and road infrastructure to facilitate trade with neighboring countries and beyond. Stressing the need for more notified border crossing points in the ECO region, he expressed that such measures would streamline trade operations.
