Ongoing demonstrations over inflated electricity bills entered their third day in various regions of the country, with the Peshawar Electric Supply Company (PESCO) requesting police assistance on Sunday due to concerns about potential violence.

Citizens, already grappling with surging inflation, continue to flood the streets to voice their opposition to the significant increases in electricity rates and additional taxes imposed in several cities nationwide for the third consecutive day.

To address the escalating situation, Caretaker Prime Minister Anwar-ul-Haq Kakar has convened an emergency meeting scheduled to take place at the Prime Minister’s House later today at 3:30 pm.

The meeting, as indicated by a post from the PM’s office on X, will feature presentations from the Ministry of Energy (Power Division) and utility companies. It will also facilitate discussions on measures to provide the maximum possible relief to consumers concerning their electricity bills, as per PM Kakar’s directives.
