The three-day Urs festivities commemorating the revered Sufi saint Hazrat Ali Hajveri, fondly known as Data Ganj Bakhsh, are scheduled to commence on September 5.
The 980th Urs of Hazrat Ali Hajveri will culminate on September 7.
Lahore is witnessing an influx of thousands of devotees hailing from various regions of the country and abroad, all gathering to participate in the annual Urs. The Urs will commence with traditional fervor, marked by the ‘Chadar Poshi’ ceremony at the shrine.
Hazrat Data Ganj Bakhsh, a distinguished Sufi and scholar of the 11th century, was originally born in Ghazni, Afghanistan, but dedicated his life to the teachings of Islam in Lahore.
Stringent security measures have been put in place, including the establishment of a dedicated control center at the shrine to oversee daily activities.
The Department of Auqaf has made extensive arrangements for providing “Langar” (free food) to the devotees. National Mehfil-e-Naat, Qawali performances, and spiritual sessions are scheduled throughout the three-day event.
The shrine premises and its surroundings have been equipped with walkthrough gates and CCTV cameras for enhanced security.
