He highlighted the recent visit of Chinese Vice Foreign Minister Sun Weidong, who held extensive discussions with Pakistani officials on bilateral relations and CPEC’s future.
Meanwhile, Pakistan’s caretaker Prime Minister Anwaarul Haq Kakar acknowledged the success of CPEC’s first phase and the ongoing benefits of its early harvest projects. He stressed the need for careful deliberation as Pakistan moves towards the second phase, which will prioritize road and air connectivity alongside industrialization projects.
The two countries also pledged mutual support on broader issues. China reiterated its appreciation for Pakistan’s unwavering commitment to the One-China policy and expressed its support for Pakistan’s sovereignty, stability, and development.
Domestically, the caretaker government in Pakistan has turned its attention to the pressing issue of circular debt in the power and gas sectors. Prime Minister Kakar directed officials to develop an effective and sustainable plan to address this challenge, which has ballooned to over Rs5.73 trillion.
Overall, this news update highlights the strong and multifaceted relationship between China and Pakistan, with CPEC serving as a key pillar for economic cooperation and regional connectivity. Both countries remain committed to deepening their ties and addressing shared challenges for a mutually prosperous future. Therefore, it is critical that Pakistan aspire to political stability. Accordingly, it is crucial that there are free and fair elections in the country, and the government must have the mandate of the people. Hence, political stability is vital for economic, social and cultural stability.
