China will be represented by Wu Zhaohui, a Vice Minister of Science and Technology, at a global summit on artificial intelligence scheduled for this week in the United Kingdom, according to two sources with knowledge of the matter.

The summit, taking place on November 1-2, will bring together AI industry representatives, political leaders, and experts to address the perceived risks associated with AI technology. The aim is to establish an international consensus on the safe development of AI.

This move reflects a warming of relations between China and the UK, following China’s acceptance of the UK’s invitation to participate in the summit. Earlier, in August, British Foreign Secretary James Cleverly visited Beijing, marking the first visit by a British foreign secretary in five years.
