China’s embassy in Pakistan has declared that it will be shutting down its consular section temporarily owing to “technical glitches”. The Chinese embassy has not shared any particular information regarding the nature of the issues, nor has it stated when the consular section would reopen.
In an announcement issued on its authorized website, the embassy of China announced the temporary closure of the consular section to notify the public. The announcement stated that the closure would remain in place until further notice.
The notification read, “Due to technical issues, the Consular Section of the Chinese Embassy in Islamabad will be closed temporarily from February 13, 2023, until further notice.”
Furthermore, the Chinese administration has cautioned its citizens to exercise extreme care while in Pakistan due to the country’s security situation. In a notice released on Saturday, the consular department of the Chinese Ministry of Foreign Affairs warned its nationals that they may be exposed to a high level of danger in the country.
It is not clear how long the consular section would remain closed or what the “technical issues” pertain to. The Chinese embassy has requested the public’s cooperation and comprehension during this time.
