In an effort to boost the economy, the government has initiated a comprehensive plan to achieve economic stability and growth, focusing on private sector investment, export-oriented development, and foreign direct investment. These plans were outlined by Finance Minister Muhammad Aurangzeb during the launch event of BYD, a leading New Energy Vehicle manufacturer, in partnership with Mega Motor Co.
Former Prime Minister Shahid Khaqan Abbasi also attended the event, where Aurangzeb emphasized Pakistan’s potential as an attractive investment destination and a regional economic hub through macroeconomic stability and structural reforms. He highlighted the government’s achievements in stabilizing the currency, increasing foreign exchange reserves, and reducing the policy rate, resulting in improved sovereign ratings and making Pakistan appealing to investors.
Aurangzeb stressed the government’s support for the private sector and its role in driving economic growth, stating that the government’s focus is on creating a conducive environment for economic development. The recent investment by BYD in Pakistan’s automotive sector reflects this private sector-led growth approach. The government welcomes this investment and aims to encourage BYD to establish Pakistan as an export hub.
Furthermore, Aurangzeb emphasized the government’s commitment to achieving export-led growth through Foreign Direct Investment (FDI) and its intention to tap into international capital markets. The Finance Minister concluded by affirming the government’s dedication to fostering an environment conducive to economic growth, led by the private sector, and positioning Pakistan for a brighter economic future.
