Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz has set a firm deadline for the completion of road rehabilitation and health centre upgrade projects across the province, aiming to bring significant benefits to millions of residents.
She has directed that all road repair and construction work be completed by the end of the fiscal year, with the first phase of health centre renovations finalized by June 30. These instructions were issued during a special meeting where Maryam Nawaz reviewed progress on these initiatives and urged the Planning and Development Department to secure additional resources.
As part of the road rehabilitation programme, 462 projects have been approved, with work underway on 455. Over 25% of the first phase is already finished. In the second phase, 72 projects were approved, and work has started on 67, with 24% completed so far.

For healthcare, the restoration of 1,236 basic health units is progressing, with 75% of the work completed. Authorities have fully restored 54 units, and 1,164 others are nearing completion, focusing on tasks like plastering, flooring, and finishing.
Maryam Nawaz emphasized that better road connectivity will enhance economic activities, especially in rural areas, while improved healthcare services will ensure residents in remote regions receive medical care equivalent to urban private clinics. The newly introduced “Maryam Nawaz Health Clinics” aim to deliver high-quality medical services to underserved communities.

In Lahore, new bike lanes are being introduced to improve road safety and traffic flow. A 10-kilometre dedicated lane for cyclists and motorcyclists is being constructed along Ferozepur Road, marked with a distinctive green colour for better visibility. This initiative is expected to reduce accidents and ensure safer commutes for two-wheelers.
