SHAANXI, China: Tragedy struck a coal mine in northern China’s Shaanxi province as an explosion led to the loss of at least 11 lives, according to reports from Chinese media on Tuesday.

CCTV, the state broadcaster, revealed that nine workers who had been “trapped underground have been found, and none of them have any vital signs.” Tragically, despite resuscitation efforts, two individuals succumbed to their injuries.

The explosion occurred at a mine on Monday evening when approximately 90 individuals were present at the site. This incident is a somber reminder of the challenges and risks associated with coal mining operations, which remain crucial for China’s energy needs but also pose significant safety concerns.
