COAS Asim Munir Calls Second US Visit “New Dimension” in Pak-US Relations

Chief of Army Staff (COAS) Field Marshal Asim Munir has described his second visit to the United States in just six weeks as marking “a new dimension” in Pakistan-US relations. Addressing the Pakistani diaspora in Tampa, Florida, he said the purpose of these engagements was to set bilateral ties on a constructive, sustainable, and positive path.

Field Marshal Munir, on his second high-level trip since June — when he met US President Donald Trump over a rare luncheon — held extensive talks with senior American political and military leadership. He attended the US Central Command (CENTCOM) change of command ceremony, praising outgoing commander General Michael E. Kurilla for strengthening defence cooperation and welcoming Admiral Brad Cooper’s assumption of command.

In his address, the COAS lauded overseas Pakistanis as a “brain gain” and urged them to attract investment in minerals, energy, and technology sectors. He warned against the misuse of social media by anti-state actors and accused India’s RAW of engaging in transnational terrorism, citing incidents in Canada, Qatar, and the Kulbhushan Jadhav case.

On regional issues, he reiterated that Occupied Kashmir remains an unresolved international agenda under UN resolutions and condemned Indian aggression along the Line of Control. He credited former US President Trump’s “strategic leadership” for averting conflict between Pakistan and India.

Field Marshal Munir also highlighted ongoing MoUs with the US, Saudi Arabia, UAE, and China, signalling major investment prospects. He reaffirmed Pakistan’s role as the last stronghold against terrorism, vowing that militant groups like the banned TTP would face full justice.
