In a speech to Karachi’s business community, Chief of Army Staff (COAS) General Asim Munir expressed confidence in Pakistan’s economic recovery, stating that the despair felt a year ago has now lifted. He emphasized his belief in a bright and stable future for the country, pointing to positive economic indicators and an outlook of continued improvement in the coming year. “Despair is forbidden for Muslims,” he remarked, reinforcing the importance of optimism in overcoming challenges.
General Munir also called out those who had predicted Pakistan’s economic downfall, asking where they were now and suggesting they should be held accountable. He stressed the importance of putting the nation’s interests ahead of personal or political motives, saying nothing should come before the wellbeing of Pakistan.
In a powerful statement of national unity, he reminded the audience that Pakistan holds deep significance for its people, as well as for those around the world who recognize its value. He urged the business community to invest in Pakistan, noting that collective effort would lead to the nation’s economic stability and prosperity. “If we stand united, no one can harm us,” he declared.
The Army Chief also highlighted the link between illegal businesses and terrorism, stressing the state’s duty to protect Pakistan’s digital borders and secure its citizens’ digital safety.
