Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif was presented with a detailed plan outlining the transfer of Chinese industries to Pakistan during a review meeting focused on the progress of agreements and cooperation between Pakistan and China. The plan highlighted the collaboration with Chinese companies to relocate industries such as textiles, medical equipment, surgical equipment, plastics, and leather to Pakistan. It was noted that 78 Pakistani companies had initially shown interest in participating in this collaboration.
The Board of Investment (BOI) presented a comprehensive report detailing the progress and proposed action plan for the transfer of Chinese industries to Pakistan. In response, the Prime Minister directed relevant institutions to provide necessary facilities to Pakistani companies in partnership with their Chinese counterparts. He emphasized the importance of timely implementation of the memorandums of understanding on cooperation agreements with China.

Prime Minister Sharif underlined the longstanding friendship between China and Pakistan, acknowledging China’s consistent support during challenging times. He emphasized that the top leadership of China is committed to increasing investments in Pakistan, a testament to their confidence in the partnership. He expressed confidence that the transfer of Chinese industries to Pakistan would significantly boost the country’s economy, create employment opportunities, and enhance exports.
During the meeting, Prime Minister Sharif received briefings on various projects, including the completion of the Sukkur-Hyderabad Motorway through a Public Private Partnership. Additionally, the plan to send 1,000 students to China for modern agricultural vocational training at the government’s expense was discussed, with the first batch expected to depart at the beginning of the academic year. The meeting also outlined the comprehensive plan to transition power plants from imported coal to local coal, a strategic move towards energy sustainability and independence. It also highlighted the organization of a road show in Beijing to promote business and investment opportunities in Pakistan in collaboration with China.
