KARACHI: The Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) apprehended the main culprit behind the Greek boat incident on Saturday. The individual, who is allegedly engaged in the illicit trafficking of individuals to Europe via Greece and Libya, was taken into custody.
The apprehended person, identified as Sajid Mehmood, was caught at Karachi airport while attempting to flee to Azerbaijan, according to FIA officials.
Upon discovering his name on the FIA’s stop-list, authorities prevented the suspect from boarding the plane.
The FIA revealed that Mehmood, a resident of Mandi Bahauddin district in Punjab, is accused of orchestrating the smuggling of young individuals to Europe through Greece and Libya.
Furthermore, investigations have revealed that the suspect operates a human smuggling network based in Greece and has previously facilitated the illegal transportation of numerous individuals to Libya.
