Cross-Border Clashes Between Hezbollah and Israeli Forces Result in Casualties

Print Friendly, PDF & Email

Hezbollah fighters in Lebanon and Israeli forces have attacked each other across the border. This happened after the Lebanese health ministry reported three rescuers killed in an Israeli attack. Hezbollah said it fired rockets at the northern Israeli town of Kiryat Shmona in response to the attack that killed the emergency workers in the Lebanese village of Froun.

On the other hand, the Israeli military said it targeted Hezbollah-allied Amal movement members in Froun. Lebanon’s civil defense agency reported that three of its employees were killed in the Israeli strike, which targeted a firefighting vehicle after they had finished a firefighting mission.

Prime Minister Najib Mikati condemned the attack, calling it a blatant violation of international laws and human values. Separately, Hezbollah said its fighters had also fired rockets at the Israeli community of Shamir, near Kiryat Shmona.

The ongoing violence has resulted in numerous casualties and damage. Lebanese Health Minister Firass Abiad urged an end to the repeated and deliberate targeting of health workers and civilians.
