Print Friendly, PDF & Email

Thousands of individuals are being compelled to evacuate their residences, with one fatality reported and several others still unaccounted for, as a result of the relentless rains in southwestern Japan on Monday. Meteorologists have issued warnings of unprecedented downpours, predicting the region to experience the “heaviest rain ever.”

The continuous heavy rainfall has resulted in overflowing rivers and hazardous landslides caused by waterlogged terrain. Tragically, a 77-year-old woman lost her life when her residence in the Saga region was engulfed overnight, as confirmed by local fire department authorities. However, her husband has regained consciousness and has been transported to the hospital.

In the neighboring Oita region, another woman is feared to have perished after being last seen clinging to a car amidst rising floodwaters, according to officials.
