Russia carried out a fresh wave of drone and missile strikes on Ukraine overnight on Monday, leaving at least one person dead and sparking several fires across the capital, Kyiv, according to city officials.
Kyiv Mayor Vitali Klitschko stated that rescue workers and medical teams were actively responding at various sites in four districts of the city. The strikes inflicted damage on a central subway station, commercial buildings, retail outlets, residential homes, and a kindergarten, officials confirmed.
The capital endured yet another night filled with tension and fear, as loud explosions echoed across the city. Many residents sought refuge in underground stations while Ukrainian air defense systems worked to intercept the incoming threats.
Meanwhile, in Kharkiv—the country’s second-largest city—regional governor Oleh Synehubov reported multiple explosions. However, he did not immediately provide details regarding the extent of the damage.
