Democrats sharply criticised President Donald Trump after his prime-time address on the Iran war, calling it deadly, costly, and lacking clear objectives. Trump claimed the US was close to victory and threatened to “hit Iran hard” and return it to the “Stone Age.”
DNC Chair Ken Martin said the war has already killed US troops, injured hundreds, driven up gas prices, and cost $25 billion, funds that could have supported millions of Americans. Polls show nearly two-thirds of Americans want the conflict to end quickly.
House Democrats highlighted the human and economic toll, including Iranian civilian casualties, disruption of global commodity flows, and alienation of allies. They warned that Trump’s war lacks strategic clarity and urged immediate diplomatic engagement as the only realistic path to prevent further losses and a prolonged, unwinnable conflict.
