The Directorate General of Immigration and Passports (DGIP) has categorically denied social media rumors claiming that Pakistan’s passport design has been altered. In a clarification issued on Monday, the department stated that no modification has been made to the front cover or any other visual feature of the national passport. The viral images circulating online were described as “fake and digitally altered.”
The DGIP urged citizens to act responsibly and avoid spreading unverified information. It confirmed that the only recent updates to the passport involve new security features introduced to curb forgery and misuse. The directorate also warned that legal action would be taken against individuals or platforms promoting false propaganda.

Earlier, the department had announced that the visa pages of the new passport would showcase printed images of Pakistan’s historical landmarks and include both parents’ names to reflect modernity and inclusiveness. The DGIP added that printing of the new passport booklets has already begun following approval from the Ministry of Interior.
