Duke of Sussex bares all on departure from Afghanistan in new memoir

The Duke of Sussex, Prince Harry, has opened up about his emotions upon being ordered to leave Afghanistan in his memoir, “Spare”. Harry discloses that he was on the brink of pleading to remain in the country, but the British army withdrew him.

In his memoir, Harry writes, “Colonel Ed was apologetic. He knew this wasn’t how or when I wanted my tour of duty to end. Nonetheless, he wanted me to know that his superiors had been urging him for weeks to withdraw me, so I was fortunate that the tour wasn’t shorter. I had outwitted the authorities and the Taliban and had managed to complete a respectable, long tour with an excellent record. Bravo, he said.”

Harry continues, “I was about to beg to stay, but I knew it was impossible. My presence would put everyone around me in grave danger, including Colonel Ed. Now that the Taliban knew I was in the country and approximately where, they would do everything in their power to kill me. The Army didn’t want me to die, but it was the same story as the previous year: the Army was extra cautious that others did not perish because of me.
