An explosion near Karachi’s international airport on Sunday night killed two Chinese nationals, according to the Chinese embassy in Pakistan, which labeled the incident a “terrorist attack.” The Baloch Liberation Army (BLA), a separatist group in Pakistan, claimed responsibility, stating they used a vehicle-borne improvised explosive device targeting Chinese nationals, including engineers.

The Chinese embassy condemned the attack and is collaborating closely with Pakistani authorities, demonstrating the strong unity between the two nations. Pakistan’s Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif confirmed that a Chinese national was also injured and assured that an investigation is underway. He emphasized Pakistan’s commitment to ensuring the safety of Chinese nationals.

This incident comes as Pakistan prepares to host the Shanghai Cooperation Organisation summit in Islamabad amid ongoing protests and clashes related to the imprisonment of former Prime Minister Imran Khan, who was arrested on charges of corruption and misuse of power.
