Explosions rock CTD police station in Swat, leaving 17 dead

A preliminary investigation of the explosions that rocked a Counter-Terrorism Department (CTD) police station in Kabal, Swat, has revealed that the blast was not the result of a suicide attack. The explosions claimed at least 17 lives and left over 50 others injured.

The report indicated that the cause of the explosion has yet to be determined, and it is unclear whether it was a result of a short circuit or human error.

The CTD police station in Swat housed a warehouse in the Malakand region, which contained 300 to 400 kilograms of explosives. The report revealed that the explosion occurred due to the detonation of the explosives stored in the warehouse.

Additionally, the report stated that two suspected terrorists who were under investigation were also killed in the blast. The explosives were sourced from Bajaur, Dir, Swat, and Buner and included mortar shells, improvised explosive devices (IEDs), and detonators.
